Stainless Steel Plate

Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel known as the’passive layer’. This prevents any further corrosion of the surface. Increasing the amount of Chromium gives an increased resistance to corrosion.Stainless steel also contains

varying amounts of Carbon, Silicon and Manganese. Other elements such as Nickel and Molybdenum may be added to impart other useful properties such as enhanced formability and increased corrosion resistance.

Aakash Steel stocks a wide range of stainless steel plate in 304/304L Plate , 304 straight grade, 316/316L Plate , 321 Plate, 317L Plate, 310 Plate, 347 Plate, 904L Plate. These grades are part of the austenitic family of stainless. Austenitic stainless steel is one of the most widely used and versatile type of steel. While 304L stainless steel plate have excellent corrosion resistance, 316/316L plates have higher nickel content than 304 and 304L giving them even better corrosion resistance especially in marine applications. Type 321 ss plates are a good choice for applications where heat is an issue. 321 can be used in applications up to 900 degrees Celsius where 304L is normally used up to 500 degrees Celsius.
